Lifelong learning for sustainability: Insights from the 2025 TASK™ alumni session

Published
17/7/2025

At Sulitest, we believe that sustainability education doesn’t stop at graduation.

That’s why, following the success of last year’s initiative, we partnered once again with our Change Leader institutions to launch the 2025 TASK™ Alumni Session — offering graduates the opportunity to assess and deepen their sustainability knowledge.

We were thrilled to see around 800 alumni take part in this global campaign, reaffirming their commitment to lifelong learning and positive impact in both their professional and personal lives.

A heartfelt thank you to the institutions that made this possible:

Catolica Porto Business School, EM Normandie, ESSEC, EXCELIA Group, Grenoble Ecole de Management, IESEG, KAUST, KEDGE Business School, Suliman S. Olayan School of Business (AUB), and the University of Sussex Business School.

What did we learn? Key trends from the alumni results

Overall performance

Alumni demonstrated a higher average score compared to students. However, a noticeable gap was observed in the Levers of Opportunity, suggesting a lower familiarity with the tools, systems, and strategies needed to act effectively on sustainability challenges — even when awareness is high.

Alumni speak out: Are they prepared?

For the 2025 edition, we introduced targeted survey questions at the end of the assessment to understand how alumni perceive their preparedness and how relevant sustainability is in their current roles.

Some key insights:

  • 60% of respondents identified themselves as highly engaged or experts in sustainability.
  • 69% said sustainability is either frequently relevant or core to their current jobs.
  • Yet, only 21% respondents felt that their higher education had prepared them well to tackle sustainability challenges and drive better practices.

This highlights a gap between engagement and preparedness. Alumni are aware and motivated — but many feel under-equipped.

A need for upskilling

The survey also shed light on the professional environments of alumni:

  • 11% work in organizations without any sustainability strategy.
  • 41% report that while some policies exist, they result in limited real impact.
  • 50% of alumni say they are only moderately comfortable or even lack the tools and knowledge to implement sustainability in their roles.
  • Encouragingly, 92% are actively seeking sustainability information — 32% occasionally, 45% frequently, and 15% as a core part of their work and lives.

These numbers reflect a clear reality: there is both demand and potential for deeper sustainability integration in workplaces and lifelong learning programs.

What this means for the future

The 2025 TASK™ Alumni Session results underscored the importance of continuing education, ongoing support, and targeted upskilling for graduates — not only during their time in academia, but long after.

At Sulitest, we’re committed to supporting this journey and empowering all change-makers — past, present, and future — to build a better world.

If you were one of the alumni who took part in the 2025 TASK™ Alumni Session, we encourage you to share your certificate and inspire others to continue their sustainability journey.
