We are committed to making Sulitest a movement and a community serving the common good. In order to combine relevance, independence, and efficiency, the Sulitest movement is now administered by two legal structures: a French association under the law of 1901, and a company designated as a Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE).
The Sulitest movement was born out of the dynamics of the Rio+20 Earth Summit. With the mission of "raising awareness and assessing sustainability literacy", the Sulitest association, created in 2014, set out to play a key role in achieving objective 4.7 of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Agenda, which aims to "ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to promote sustainable development."
A tangible implementation of HESI (Higher Education Sustainability Initiative), the Sulitest movement was recognized in 2016 as one of the key initiatives in the United Nations partnership for the Sustainable Development Goals. The Sulitest association is recognized by three major UN entities and enjoys strong international recognition.
In order to scale up, increase impact, and mainstream the movement, the association and its two co-founders created a social and solidarity economy company (SAS of the ESUS type in France) in 2021.
In January 2022, following a fundraising campaign, six private and public higher education institutions, as well as several angel investors, infused new capital into the movement.
The Sulitest association
The Sulitest association is formally recognized by three major UN entities. It has:
- Observer status with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) (accreditation 430/218).
- Special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (UNDESA) since 2019.
- Consultative status with UNESCO since 2022.
As the shareholder of the social and solidarity company, the Sulitest association advocates for the generalization of education for sustainability in higher education. As the movement's representative at the UN, it co-chairs the HESI initiative with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, United Nations University, and UNESCO's IESALC which brings together the higher education community and various UN entities (UNDESA, UNESCO, UNEP, PRME, UNU, UN-HABITAT, UNCTAD, UNITAR and the UN Office for Partnerships).
The Sulitest association also plays an important role in capacity building, supporting SD education and research, and mainstreaming sustainability literacy worldwide.

Sulitest governance
Sulitest Impact, social and solidarity enterprise
The social enterprise, Sulitest Impact, is responsible for the design, editing, development and management of all tools, as well as the deployment of the business. It plays a supporting role in the animation of user communities and hosts all content (association and SAS). Finally, it develops R&D on the impact of the use of Sulitest tools on individuals and organizations.

Since its launch in 2013, the Sulitest movement has been fortunate to be supported by a community of committed actors. A considerable number of individual contributors have thus enabled it to expand on a global scale. The movement has also been privileged to be supported by a wide variety of institutions.
As early as 2013, Sulitest was supported by several institutions, including Kedge Business School's Foundation for Sustainable Leadership for the construction and deployment of the first version of the platform.
A fundraising campaign then allowed Sulitest to contract with a new IT partner, Aleaur, to develop an improved version. Eleven higher education institutions and eight companies or professional organizations financially supported this campaign in 2016. (EAUC, ENPC, EFMD, Institut Mines Telecom, Kingston University, PRME Chapter UK & Ireland, School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg, COMUE Université Paris Seine, Grenoble EM, CGE, Edf, C3d, La Banque Postale, L'Occitane, LVMH, Onet, Orange, Pernod Ricard).
In 2022, six higher education institutions (Kedge Business School, ESSEC, EM Normandie, Excelia Business School, CY Cergy and Université Paris Saclay) and eleven individual investors wanted to accompany us in the change of scale entering the capital of the social and solidarity enterprise.
Special thanks: Since the launch of the version of Sulitest in 2016, the association has received continuous support from Kedge Business School, the EFMD and the Conférence des Grandes Écoles (CGE).
Sulitest equally joined Kedge's Business Accelerator program, which has been of great support.
