What is Sustainability Literacy?

Sustainability Literacy is the knowledge, skills and mindsets that help compel an individual to become deeply committed to building a sustainable future and allow him or her to make informed and effective decisions to this end.

Our ‘raison d'être’

There is an urgent need for knowledge and skills to address the current social, economic & environmental challenges the world is facing.

There is an important need to create and develop tools and training opportunities in sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Our vision

Our vision is to develop Sustainability Literacy (core knowledge, skills, and mindsets) worldwide and global citizens who are engaged and committed to making informed and responsible decisions to collectively build a sustainable future.

Our mission

Our mission is to improve and measure Sustainability Literacy worldwide by providing citizens and organizations with internationally recognized and locally relevant assessment tools; by promoting and advocating for Education on SD, and by sharing meaningful information and data with researchers, educators and other relevant stakeholders.

Actively contributing to the Global Agenda

On 1 January 2016, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development were deployed.

Over the next fifteen years countries, organizations and citizens are called to action to "mobilize efforts to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change, while ensuring that no one is left behind."

Easy to use, adaptable and deployed worldwide, the Sulitest is a tool helping organizations and individuals to contribute to the SDGs

Sulitest for organizations:

  • A training and assessment tool for raising awareness about Sustainable Development & global challenges
  • A wealth of indicators and trends on ESD  - an international database of knowledge, skills and mindsets to follow SD progress worldwide
  • A customizable tool to use in any type of organization

A (very) simple idea...

Nowadays, a proof of a minimum level of English is required from candidates applying for admission to a university or for a job in international companies. Other higher education institutions verify applicants’ standardized test scores in key skills areas for entering competitive MBA and Master’s programs.

Soon, the best organizations will require that their students, staff and faculty possess a basic understanding of the current global challenges and their responsibility in resolving them. The Sustainability Literacy Test was created to help higher education institutions, companies and other organizations around the world ensure that their graduates and employees are aware of and have core knowledge about global challenges of the 21st century.
